The image came about after a sketching trip some friends and I took to the countryside around Mallala a small town approximately one and a half hours drive north of Adelaide. The area had recently been devastated by a bush fire which destroyed many farm houses and crops. This spot was on a dirt road just out of the town. The day we were there was towards the end of summer and I was taken by the yellow of the dirt road against the brown of the newly ploughed fields and the dark green of the trees that survived the fire as well as the horizontal/vertical composition the arrangement of the natural elements created.

The turn right sign that gave the work its name also reminded me of an in joke my wife and I have whenever we travel out this way. It seems that ever sign you see points to Mallala so we believe when travelling north of Adelaide all roads go to Mallala. Hence I couldn't resist giving it the title it has.

The print edition was produced to be hung in a group exhibition of postcard size works the proceeds of which went to a local charity. The exhibition was held at Magpie Springs Winery gallery where of the edition sold but the other two are still available for sale.
